TACOMA, Washington – Four Loggers scored, but the team fell, 20-7, to George Fox on Saturday afternoon.
George Fox (6-3, 4-0 NWC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Smith's first goal put Puget Sound on the board. The Bruins led 13-4 at the break. George Fox came out of halftime with a 3-0 run. The Loggers and Bruins would exchange goals for the next 10 minutes, giving George Fox an 18-7 lead with six minutes left. Two Bruins goals in the final four minutes would extend their lead to the final margin of 20-7.
Goalkeeper Leah Stromberg (1-9) played the first half and made three saves. Rebecca Simon played the second half in goal, making three saves in her first collegiate action. Smith led the Loggers with four ground balls, while Gracie Phillips had three. Holgate recorded five draw controls and caused two turnovers.
Puget Sound will next host Whitman on Saturday, April 10. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
