Loggers Fall In First Spring Break Match

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team had a rough first spring break match, falling 9-0 to William Smith.
 
Logan Thompson and Marissa Friedman took Jess McCue and Katie Serock to the brink in the #2 doubles match but fell 9-8. The Herons' #1 duo of Joanie Hilton and Kiara Ocasio took down Madison Holtz and Maddie Thiesse 8-4 while Remy Roevsky and Halsey Leighton defeated Ada Yu and Jenna Gerdsen 8-1.
 
In singles, the Herons earned straight-set victories in all six matches. Amanda Slack defeated Holtz 7-6, 6-2 while Casey Kennedy beat Thiesse 6-2, 6-1. Ocasio earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Gerdsen and Hilton defeated Thompson 6-4, 6-0.
 
Melissa Slack earned another Heron with a 7-5, 6-0 defeat of Yu and Roevsky completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Friedman.
 
The Loggers will head back to the courts tomorrow for another spring break match with Western New England.
