TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team fell 7-2 against visiting Whitworth on Friday night. Logan Thompson was the only Logger to pick up a singles win and also won her No. 2 doubles match.
Thompson defeated Saryn Mooney6-3, 6-4 for the Loggers (1-3, 1-2 NWC) lone singles win of the evening in the No. 3 slot. Thompson also teamed up with Marissa Friedman for a No. 2 doubles win over Whitworth's Megan Wingfield and Jessi Steele 8-6.
However, those were the only two wins for the Loggers as the Pirates came away with win. Alli Marshall and Erica Bosman took an 8-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Josie Dow and Allison Embernate while the duo of Claire Hemming and Mooney earned an 8-4 win at No. 3 over Ada Yu and Maddie Thiesse to gain the Whitworth advantage.
Marshall defeated Thiesse in No. 1 singles 6-1, 7-5 and Bosman took the No. 2 match over Jenna Gerdsen 6-3, 6-3. Friedman fell 7-5, 6-4 in her singles match to Wingfield. Dow also fell 6-3, 6-4 to Steele while Yu suffered a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Hemming.
The Loggers host Whitman tomorrow at 11 a.m.
