TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 defeat to visiting Whitman on Saturday. It is the fourth consecutive loss for the Loggers (1-4, 1-3 NWC).
Whitman took two of the three doubles points, winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. Alyssa Roberg and Courtney Lawless defeated Allisom Embernate and Josie Dow 8-1 while Morgan Lawless and Emily Rolston came away with the 8-2 win over Logan Thompson and Marissa Friedman. Ada Yu and Maddie Thiesse scored the Loggers first point with a 9-7 win over Whitman's Erin Minuth and Maddy Webster.
Logan Thompson won her singles match for the second straight day, this time taking down Kate Kunkel-Patterson 6-1, 6-1. Dow also cam away victorious at No. 5 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Lizzy Schiller.
Courtney Lawless earned the 6-1, 6-0 win over Thiesse at No. 1 while Morgan Lawless took a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jenna Gerdsen at No. 2. Marissa Friedman put up a fight and forced a third set but eventually fell 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 to Rolston. Hannah Palkowitz captured Whitman's final win at No. 6 with a 7-6, 6-1 decision over Yu.
The Loggers head south next week, starting with a 4 p.m. Friday match at George Fox.
