Claremont, Calif. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team opened its southern California road trip with a 9-0 loss at Pomona-Pitzer on Friday.
The match unconventionally started with singles play as the Sagehens (6-3) took all six matches from the Loggers (3-7). Maddie Thiesse took the #3 match to the brink as she took the first set 6-4 over Jessica Hsu. However, Hsu took the next two sets 6-3 and 6-2 to take the win. Josie Dow also forced a third set in the #5 match. She lost the first set 6-4 but bounced back to take the second set 6-4 over Alex Antonoplis. However, Antonoplis won 6-1 in the third set to earn the point.
The Sagehens went on to win all three doubles matches to complete the sweep.
The Loggers head to La Verne tomorrow for a 3 p.m. match.
