Women's tennis prepares for postseason competition

TACOMA, Washington – The Loggers of the Week are preparing for the postseason. Members of the Puget Sound women's tennis team were named the Loggers of the Week after clinching a postseason for the first time since 2014, and the second time since 2007. The NWC Tournament is at Linfield, April 27-28.

Puget Sound grabbed the No. 4 seed with a 5-3 NWC record. Lewis & Clark also finished the regular season 5-3 in conference, but the pioneers have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Loggers. No. 2 seed Whitman lost just one NWC match – against No. 1 Linfield. The Wildcats are hosting.

Puget Sound will play Linfield Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m. The winner of that match will play the winner of Whitman vs. Lewis & Clark (2 p.m.). The Championship match is Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m.

Lisa leading Loggers

In NCAA D-III competition this season, junior Lisa Owen has a 7-1 record at No. 1 singles. She has teamed up with Nicole Bouche for an 8-3 record at No. 1 doubles. Owen is a two-time All-NWC honoree, and she is poised for her third consecutive selection.

The cast

In place of an injured Lisa Owen in the middle of the season, Nicole Bouche seamlessly slid in to No. 1 singles for a handful of matches. Bridget Myers has been holding it down at No. 3 singles, and Barclay Fagg competes at No. 4. The two Loggers team up at No. 2 doubles.
