TACOMA, Washington – Playing in just her second-career collegiate game, freshman Tallie Davison amassed 22 kills to lead the Puget Sound volleyball team to a 3-1 (27-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-17) win over Willamette Friday night in Memorial Fieldhouse.
Davison is the first Logger to eclipse 20 kills in a match since Jackie Harvey had 21 kills in a win over Linfield in 2012. Davison finished the night with a .455 attack percentage. She had 17 kills in her first-career game at Whitworth last week (Oct. 19).
The first set was the most closely contested of the four. The Loggers opened the night with a 5-0 run, but Willamette (6-14, 5-6 NWC) rallied to take a 10-8 lead. Neither team led by more than two points for the rest of the set. The Loggers took a 25-24 advantage following a kill by Katherine Carley, but the Bearcats answered right back to keep the set going.
Fittingly, Davison provided consecutive kills to give the Loggers a 27-25 win in the opening set.
Blumenfeld came up with three services on the night, adding to her conference-leading 50 aces this season.
The Loggers return to Memorial Fieldhouse to host Lewis & Clark Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m.
