Siacotos posts career-high 15 kills, Loggers beat Linfield in season finale

McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Melanie Siacotos totaled a career-high 15 kills to lead the Puget Sound volleyball team to a 3-2 (25-27, 25-13, 25-18, 23-25, 15-11) win at Linfield in the final game of the 2019 season Saturday night.

Puget Sound finishes the season with a 15-13 overall record, and a 10-6 mark in the Northwest Conference.

After splitting the first four sets, the Loggers raced out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth and decisive set. All five points were from Linfield (5-23, 1-15 NWC) miscues. The Wildcats clawed by with a 4-1 run, but another Linfield error followed by Siacotos' 15th kill of the match gave the Loggers some cushion.

The Loggers held a 9-7 edge in the fifth set when Samantha Johnson went off. She contributed three kills as the Loggers built their lead to 14-8. A Linfield error ended the match.

Tallie Davison finished with 12 kills for the Loggers, and Sarah Blumenfeld added 32 assists.

Four Loggers came away with double-digit kills: Chloe Akiona-Bannan (23), Jordan Holman (19), Blumenfeld (17), and Kathleen Brown (11).
