Logger women take first, Monaghan wins men's race

LAKEWOOD, Washington – Men's sophomore Colin Monaghan picked up right where he left off from his freshman season, and the Puget Sound women's cross country team won the Puget Sound Invitational at Fort Steilacoom Park Saturday.

Monaghan, the 2018 Northwest Conference Men's Cross Country Champion and NWC Men's Runner of the Year, won Saturday's race with a time of 25:32.91.

Monaghan helped lead the Logger men to a second-place team finish. Basil Engledow placed ninth overall (28:07.19). Jack Monaghan (29:41.23) and Cody DeWitt (29:57.82) placed 24th and 25th, respectively.

Samantha Schaffer (24:37.75) paced the Logger women by finishing second overall. Rachael Metzler (25:22.56) finished seventh, and Eleanorr Schnorr was 12th (25:37.81).

The Logger teams next compete in the Viking Rust Buster at Portland State, Sept. 7.
