#6 Loggers Come Back To Clinch NCAA Berth

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - It took a comeback effort to do it but when the final whistle blew, the sixth-ranked Puget Sound Loggers clinched the Northwest Conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament with a 3-2 win over Pacific at Lincoln Park Stadium on Saturday in Forest Grove, Ore.

The Loggers fell behind in the 14th minute when Pacific's Sam Lee scored her first goal of the season after firing in a shot from 35 yards out.  Junior Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) tied the game up in the 38th minute on a free kick from 20 yards out.

In the second half, the Boxers again took the lead in the 49th minutes when Ashley Kanda dropped a pass into the box and Jenny Novak finished for a 2-1 Pacific lead.  The Loggers again tied it up in the 57th minute when freshman Jenny Moore (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) sent a pass in to Fiona Gornick (Portland, Ore./Grant) who scored the equalizer.  Moore played hero in the 83rd minute, breaking away from the midfield and firing a shot past Erin Ichimura for the game winner.

Logger keeper Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) made four saves in the win.

The Loggers will stay in Oregon on Sunday when they travel to McMinnville, Ore. to take on Linfield.
