#6 Loggers Stay Perfect On Road With 1-0 Win

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The freshman connection of Abby Goss (Spokane, Wash./University) to Catherine Means (Seattle, Wash./Garfield) was all it took for the sixth-ranked Puget Sound Loggers to defeat the Linfield Wildcats, 1-0, in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Sunday afternoon in McMinnville, Ore.

The Loggers scored the only goal of the game in the 33rd minute when Goss fed Means near the top of the box and Means calmly placed an accurate shot in the upper-right corner of the goal.

The Loggers continued to pressure the 'Cats, outshooting them 18-5 on the day, but Linfield's Kelsey Hasselblad made five saves on the day and the Wildcat offense accounted for two more. With the win, the Loggers finished the road portion of their schedule with a record of 9-0-0, including 8-0-0 in NWC matches.

The Loggers, who have already clinched a spot in the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament by winning a seventh-straight NWC title, return home on Friday for the first of two home matches to end the 2008 season when they play host to Lewis & Clark. Gametime with the Pios is set for 11:00 a.m.
