TACOMA, Wash. - For the second straight night, the Puget Sound
Loggers ran past their Northwest Conference opponent,
defeating the Linfield Wildcats, 70-48, in a Northwest Conference
men's basketball game on Saturday night at Memorial Fieldhouse in
Tacoma, Wash.
In the first half, the Loggers went on a 16-0 run over 6:09 to
pull ahead 27-11. The defense continued to hold the 'Cats at
bay, holding Linfield for a stretch of 11:33 without a made field
goal as Puget Sound built a 43-21 lead.
The second half was much more even as the Logger bench saw
extended time. After shooting just 26.1% in the first half,
Linfield improved to 46.2% shooting but the Loggers equaled their
27 second half points as Puget Sound collected the 70-48 win to
improve to 2-0 in NWC play.
Puget Sound was led by 14 points from Robert Krauel (Phoenix,
Ariz./North Canyon) and 12 off the bench from Steffond Brown
(Seattle, Wash./Lower Columbia CC). Antwan Williams
(Portland, Ore./Madison) chipped in nine points and four assists
and now sits just eight shy for the career assists record.
Linfield was led by 14 points from Matt McCollum and 10 rebounds
from K.C. Wiser.
Puget Sound will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel
to Pacific Lutheran. Tip-off with the Lutes is set for 8:00
p.m. at Olson Auditorium in Parkland, Wash.
