NEWBERG, Ore. - Senior Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) scored
her 18th and 19th goals of the season as the fourth-ranked Puget
Sound Loggers rolled past the George Fox Bruins, 4-0, in a
Northwest Conference women's soccer game on Saturday in Newberg,
Ore.
The Loggers, ranked fourth in the latest D3soccer.com Top 25,
got on the scoreboard early when Levien took a pass from Christine
Isabella (Salt Lake City, Utah/Winthrop) and put the ball past
Becka Doyle for the 1-0 lead. In the 32nd minute, Kelly
Andersen (Centennial, Colo./Littleton) crossed the ball over the
Theresa Henle (Issaquah, Wash.) and Henle scored her fifth goal of
the year, as well as her third goal of the week, to give Puget
Sound a 2-0 lead.
The Loggers made it 3-0 shortly before half when Levien crossed
a ball over to Rochel Burke (Selah, Wash.) and Burke finished from
about five yards out. The final goal of the game came int he
54th minute when Gabrille Duhl (Corvallis, Ore.) crossed the ball
over the Levien from the left and Levien used her powerful foot to
finish from five yards out.
Senior Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) made four
saves in 70:34 as the Loggers improved to 16-1-0 and 13-1-0 in NWC
matches this season. Doyle made nine saves for George Fox,
allowing the four goals, as the Loggers outshot the Bruins, 23-8.
The Loggers return home next Friday to open up the final weekend
of the regular season when they play host to Pacific.
