TACOMA, Wash. - Senior forward Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.)
scored twice and a pair of sophomores added two more as the
second-ranked Puget Sound Loggers made easy work of the
Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, 4-0, in a NCAA Division III women's soccer
game on Saturday afternoon on East Athletic Field in Tacoma, Wash.
The first of Levien's pair came in the 24th minute when she
received a pass from Maddy Fisk (Corvallis, Ore.) for her third of
the season and the 55th goal of her Logger career. Puget
Sound dominated the first half, holding Pomona-Pitzer without a
shot.
Levien scored her second in the 52nd minute off a cross from
sophomore Mikaela Freeman (Alameda, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd).
The goal puts Levien just two back from 2005 national player of the
year Cortney Kjar on the career goals list.
Puget Sound made it 3-0 in the 71st minute when Jenny Moore
(Kent, Wash./Kentwood) scored the unintentional goal when her cross
bent around the post and into the net. The Loggers got their
final score in the 74th minutes when Fisk found Freeman open for
the shot and Freeman delivered for the Logger win.
Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) collected the win
in goal, making two saves in 85:44 before being replaced by Katie
Wheeler (Oregon City, Ore.), who made one save in the final 4:16.
The Loggers will open up Northwest Conference play next Saturday
when they travel down to Salem, Ore. to take on Willamette.
