The University of Puget Sound women's soccer team saw its
eight match winning streak come to a rainy end on Sunday with a 1-1
tie at Willamette. All the scoring was done in the first ten
minutes as teams started hot but were cooled by the rain in the
final 100 minutes.
Stephanie Skelly gave the Bearcats (6-8-2, 5-5-2) an early lead
with a goal from 17 yards out in the fourth minute. Just a few
minutes later, Christine Isabella found the back of the net to tie
the match at 1-1.
Isabella's goal came in the 10th minute off a corner kick
from Lauren Swanson, who earned the assist.
Over the course of the double-overtime match, the Loggers
(13-1-1, 10-1-1) outshot the Bearcats 13-6, including 7-1 in shots
on goal. Kelli Gano made six saves in the contest to earn the
draw.
The Loggers return home next week for Senior Day when they host
George Fox at noon.
