Loggers Close Out Regular Season With 2-0 Win

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Two very early goals stood up through 90 minutes as the University of Puget Sound women's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 2-0 win at Linfield. The Loggers (17-1-2, 14-1-1) had all the scoring done in the first 11 minutes and Casey Thayer made four saves to earn the shutout.

Not only were both goals in the first 11 minutes of the match, but both came with in a minute and a half of each other. Theresa Henle scored first at the 8:54 mark to give the Loggers an early lead. Kelly Andersen and Lauren Swanson earned assists on the play as Henle put the ball into the bottom right corner for the match's first goal.

At the 10:17 mark, Abby Goss continued her hot streak with an unassisted goal past the Wildcat (13-6-1, 11-4-1) goalkeeper. Kelsey Hasselblad made one save in the contest and nearly made another on Goss's goal, which she got a piece of but couldn't get enough to make the save.

The Wildcats outshot the Loggers 10-6 in the match, including 4-3 in shots on goal. However, Thayer made a pair of saves in each half to earn her second shutout in as many days.

The Logger will now return home and eagerly await the NCAA selection show, which will reveal the Loggers opponent and location for their first-round match. The show will air on NCAA.com at 6 a.m. (PT) on Monday.
