WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Jess Yarbrough made a pair of saves
and held on for a shutout as the Puget Sound women's soccer
team got back on the winning track with a 1-0 win over Whitman.
Theresa Henle scored the match's only goal in the 34th
minute.
Henle's match-winner was her sixth goal of the season,
scoring all six in as many matches. Kayla Boortz recorded the
assist on the goal after taking a free kick. The goal was scored on
the Loggers' lone shot in the opening half.
The story of the second half was a bit different as the Loggers
fired nine shots to the Missionaries six and took five corner kicks
to the Missionaries zero.
The Loggers win put them back on the winning side after dropping
their first match of the season yesterday. They return home on
Wednesday to host cross-town rivals, Pacific Lutheran at 3:30 p.m.
on Peyton Field.
