Loggers Keep Win Streak Intact With Shutout Of Bruins

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's soccer team extended its win streak to four matches with a 1-0 win over George Fox on Saturday. Robin Vieira buried the game-winner and Kara Merfeld posted her fourth shutout in four matches.

In the 44th minute, Vieira picked up a rebound off of an Alyssa Montero save and buried it into the open net for the one and only score of the match and a 1-0 Loggers (7-2, 5-1 NWC) lead.

Montero made five saves for the Bruins (1-5-3, 1-3-1 NWC). However, the Bruin offense managed only four shots. Merfeld stopped both that were put on goal to post fourth shutout in as many career starts.

It was Vieira's fourth goal of the season and third game-winner. The Loggers outshot the Bruins 12-4 in the match.

Next week, the Loggers hit the road again as they travel to Pacific on Saturday and Lewis & Clark on Sunday.
