Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – A battle of nationally-ranked teams ended in a 3-1 loss for the 21-ranked Puget Sound volleyball team to the 23rd-ranked Pacific Lutheran Lutes. The 25-15, 20-25, 25-17, 25-13 loss is the Loggers (15-4, 7-4 NWC) first loss in three matches against the Lutes (16-4, 8-3 NWC) this year.

Jakcie Harvey had a match-high 14 kills to go with 16 digs but the Loggers hit .085 as a team in the four set loss. Brynn Blickenstaff added 12 kills for the Loggers while Stephanie O'Connor and Juliette Witous each tallied 17 digs to lead the home team.

Pacific Lutheran saw Kelsie Moore, Erin Bremond and Bethany Huston each reach double digits in kills. Moore led the squad with 13 kills and 11 digs. Blair Bjorkman had a match-high 25 digs. Huston also has five block assists as the Lutes tallied 10 total blocks as a team to limit the Loggers attack.

After the teams traded the first two sets, PLU limited the Loggers to a -.024 hitting percentage in the third set to gain the advantage. After going in an early hole, the Loggers fought their way back in the third set and were knotted at 16-16 in the set. However, the Lutes took the lead on a service error and scored nine of the set's last 10 points to swing momentum.

The Lutes used that momentum to build an early 4-0 lead and continued to pull away in the fourth set for the victory.

The Loggers will host Pacific on Friday for Senior Day at 7 p.m.
