Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's soccer team dominated possession for 90 minutes on the way to a 2-0 win over Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday. The Loggers (11-3-2, 9-2-2 NWC) momentarily took first place in the Northwest Conference standings with the win with Linfield scheduled to play both of their matches this weekend.
After owning the possession in the first half, Abby Goss put the Loggers on the board at the 21:02 mark. Christine Isabella had possession just out side the penalty and tapped the ball over to Goss, who fired a shot from 25 yards out. Her shot was slightly deflected by a defender and past the Lutes keeper.
Lauren Chambard made 10 saves in the match, keeping the Lutes (4-11, 3-10 NWC) within striking distance until the 62nd minute. Chambard made six of her saves in the first half.
In the second half, the Loggers earned seven corner kicks to total 12 in the match. On one of these corners taken by Kylie Beeson, the Loggers padded their lead to 2-0. Beeson's corner swung nicely into the center of the box where Isabella rose above the defense to head the ball over Chambard and into the netting.
The Loggers held a 22-4 shot advantage in the match and 12-0 advantage in shots on goal.
The Loggers will hit the road for the final time of the regular season on Saturday when they head to George Fox for a noon match.
