Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – A decade of dominance was completed on Saturday at Baker Stadium as the Puget Sound women's soccer team secured its tenth consecutive Northwest Conference title with a 5-0 win over Pacific. Five different Loggers scored in the rout with four goals coming in the second half.
With their tenth consecutive title, the Loggers (14-3-2, 12-2-2 NWC) extended the longest active title streak in NCAA Division III women's soccer.
Mikaela Freeman opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first half in the 29th minute. Her shot from just outside the penalty box snuck into the upper right corner for a 1-0 Logger lead.
The Loggers outshot the Boxers (10-5-5, 7-5-4 NWC) 13-2 in the match and 7-1 in the first half.
The Loggers continued to dominate in the second half as they strove to lock up the match and the conference crown. Kylie Beeson scored just under two minutes into the half for a 2-0 Logger lead. Christine Isabella gave the Loggers a 3-0 lead in the 50th minute on a cross from Jenny Moore. Isabella also assisted on the Loggers second and fourth goals.
The fourth goal was scored by Robin Vieira in the 66th minute. Megan Walsh then fired one past the keeper in the 81st minute to give the Loggers the 5-0 rout.
The Boxers managed just two shots in the match and put both on goal. Kara Merfeld made one save while Casey Thayer made another in goal for the Loggers.
The Loggers will now await the announcement of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship bracket, which will be released on Monday. A selection show will air live on NCAA.com at 10:30 a.m. (PT).
