NEWBERG, Ore. – After trailing most of the second half, the University of Puget Sound men's basketball team surged for a 66-63 victory over George Fox in its season finale.  The Loggers (10-15, 7-9 NWC) were led by a double-double from Anthony Gittens and a 20-point performance from Kaleb Shelton.

The Loggers and Bruins (8-17, 6-10 NWC) engaged in an exciting, seesaw battle with neither team ever holding a double digit lead. Riggs Yarbro tied the game up at 60-60 with a layup, which was the last of his 11 points in the game. After that the Loggers finished the game on a 6-3 run.

Gittens scored five points down the stretch to give him 14 points and 10 rebounds for the game. Shelton scored a game-high 20 points while pulling down eight rebounds.

Despite the big numbers from the Logger forwards, head coach Justin Lunt attributes the Loggers success down the stretch to a pair of underclassmen on the perimeter.

"Caleb Gauff and Malcolm Colbert really were X-factors tonight," commented Lunt. "The stats may not show it but they played the last six minutes and did an excellent job. After the loss last night, it shows a lot of character from this young team and the direction we're headed in."

The Loggers end their season on a positive note with the season-ending victory. Their 10 overall wins and seven conference wins surpass last year's totals with a very young team. The Loggers will return four starters and all but one player from this year's team in 2011-12.
