Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. – The regular season concluded on Saturday for the University of Puget Sound women's basketball team with a 83-55 loss to George Fox. The Loggers (18-7, 11-5 NWC) will face the Bruins (20-5, 14-2 NWC) again on Thursday in the NWC semifinals.
With 11:26 left in the first half Hayley Cusick hit a layup that gave the Bruins a lead they would hold for the rest of the game. She was one of four Bruins to score in double figures. Keisha Gordon had a game-high 21 points.
Jocelyn Riordan led the Loggers with 19 points and nine rebounds. Kelsey McKinnis added 13 points.
After taking the lead half way through the first half, the Bruins built a 39-23 halftime lead. McKinnis hit a three-pointer to pull the Loggers within 13 points out of the break. However, that's as close as the Loggers would get as the Bruins continued to pull away for the victory.
"We are excited about the opportunity to play again at George Fox," said head coach Loree Payne. "It will be a great game. It's 'win-or-go-home' time!"
The Loggers and Bruins will battle again in the NWC semifinal game on Thursday at 7 p.m.
