Loggers Down Chapman With Two First Half Goals

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Kylie Beeson and Robin Vieira each struck in the first half to lift the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Chapman on Saturday. The Loggers (1-1) outshot the Panthers (0-2-1) 13-8 and Casey Thayer made two saves in the victory.

Beeson scored the match's first goal in the 26th minute and Vieira scored less than four minutes later in the 30th minute. Both goals were unassisted. Vieira's goal was her second of the season in as many games.

Vieira's goal proved to be crucial as Emma Castleton struck for Chapman in the 55th minute from six yards out.

Both of Thayer's saves came in the second half as the Panthers outshot the Loggers 5-4 in the second period.

The Loggers will take on UC Santa Cruz tomorrow at 11 a.m.
