Vieira Strikes Again In Loggers Win

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Freshman Robin Vieira scored her third goal of the season as the Puget Sound women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over UC Santa Cruz on Sunday. Vieira scored in the 71st minute to give the Loggers (2-1) a 2-0 lead.

After the Loggers and Banana Slugs played through a scoreless first half, Mikaela Freeman broke the silence with a goal in the 67th minute. Kylie Beeson assisted on the goal.

Vieira than struck for her third goal in as many matches in the 71st minute to pad the Loggers lead to 2-0. The goal proved to be crucial in the victory as Gloria Hernandez snuck a goal past Casey Thayer on a penalty kick.

Thayer made three saves in the match to aid in the Loggers second win.

The Loggers return home next week to start conference play with a noon match against Willamette.
