Freeman Scores Late But Loggers Fall To Linfield

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – Two first-half goals by Linfield were too much to overcome for the Puget Sound women's soccer team Sunday afternoon on East Field. The Loggers fall to 3-2-0 and 1-1-0 in Northwest Conference play with the 2-1 loss.

Senior Mikaela Freeman scored for the Loggers in the 75th minute. She headed the ball in after a nice cross from Christine Isabella.

The Wildcats scored in the 15th minute as Emily Fellows dribbled past Logger goalkeeper Casey Thayer. Their second goal came in the 33rd minute as Anna LaBeaume dribbled from the left side and went one-on-one with Thayer before putting it in the near corner.

Linfield out-shot Puget Sound 12-10 but the Loggers had six corner kicks to just five for the Wildcats.

Kara Merfeld played the second half in goal for Puget Sound with both Logger keepers making two saves in the game.

The Loggers head east next week for matches with Whitman and Whitworth.
