Box Score PARKLAND, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's soccer team used three second half goals to down Pacific Lutheran 3-0 on Wednesday. Christine Isabella scored for the third consecutive match.
Despite outshooting the Lutes (2-5, 1-4 NWC) 6-1 in the first half, the Loggers (6-2, 4-1 NWC) were unable to put one in the net. The Loggers came out determined in the second half and held an 11-1 shot advantage.
The Loggers' first goal came on an own goal in the 58th minute. Isabella finally broke through for the Loggers in the 66th minute. She blocked a clearance by the PLU keeper and buried a shot from 16 yards out. It was Isabella's sixth goal of the season.
Jenny Moore struck for her first goal of the season in the 67th minute, just 70 seconds after Isabella's goal. Isabella played a ball up to Moore, who timed her run perfectly and touched the pass past the keeper to pad the Loggers lead to 3-0.
The Loggers put 11 shots on goal in the match and did not allow a shot on goal for the Lutes.
Kara Merfeld posted her third consecutive shutout in goal for the Loggers and has yet to allow a goal this season.
The Loggers return home on Saturday for Parents Day and a noon match with George Fox.
