TACOMA, Wash. – The No. 22 Puget Sound volleyball team made it a clean sweep through the Puget Sound Volleyball Tournament with wins over No. 18 Whitworth and Pacific Lutheran today.

The Loggers (4-0) took the PLU match 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22 to hand the Lutes their first loss of the season. Jackie Harvey once again led the way with 18 kills.

Brynn Blickenstaff also had a big match for the Loggers with 12 kills while Erika Greene dished out 47 assists.

Kelsie Moore and Erin Bremond led PLU with 11 kills each and Blair Bjorkman tallied a match-high 41 digs.

Four Loggers hit double digits in digs, led by 22 from senior Juliette Witous. Harvey had yet another double-double with 15 digs.

With the win, the Loggers stayed perfect in the young 2011 season and gained some momentum heading down to the Cal-Lu-Fornia tournament next weekend.

Loggers Take Down No. 18 Whitworth

TACOMA, Wash. – The No. 22 Puget Sound volleyball team kept on a roll with a 3-1 win over No. 18 Whitworth on Saturday morning. The Loggers improved to 3-0 on the year behind a trio of Loggers who reached double digits in kills.

Jackie Harvey led the Loggers with 13 kills while Brynn Blickenstaff slammed 12 kills and Stephanie O'Connor tallied 10 kills. Harvey also recorded a team-leading 18 digs.

The Loggers took the first set 22-25, but faced an early deficit and dropped set two 19-25.  They rebounded in the third set by hitting .225 and earning a 25-16 victory. In the fourth set, Whitworth jumped out to a 13-4 lead but the Loggers came roaring back to tie the set at 13-13 and eventually take a 26-24 win to clinch the match.

Kaimi Rocha led the Pirates with 13 kills while Jalana White added 11 kills. Bree Riddle dished out 42 assists.

Erika Greene had another standout match with 34 assists and 16 digs. She also tallied a pair of service aces.
