Loggers Dropped By Hot-Hitting Pirates

SPOKANE, Wash. – Brynn Blickenstaff had a match-high 12 kills, but it wasn't enough to get the Puget Sound volleyball team back on the winning track as it was swept Whitworth 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.

Blickenstaff hit .296 to lead the Loggers (11-2, 3-2 NWC). Jackie Harvey added eight kills and 10 digs.

The Pirates (10-4, 5-0 NWC) stayed perfect in Northwest Conference play with a .315 team hitting percentage. Kaimi Rocha led the Pirates with 10 kills. Bree Riddle had 35 assists to aid in the Pirates victory.

The Pirates controlled much of the first two sets and they never trailed in the second set. In the third set, the Loggers found a groove, hitting .333 as a team and taking an early 3-0 lead. However, the Pirates came roaring back. They hit .400 in the set and never looked back after taking a 7-6 lead.

The Loggers will look to buck their back-to-back losses when they travel to Whitman tomorrow.
