Loggers Fall To Cal Lutheran in 2011 Opener

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – In the 2011 season-opener for the Puget Sound women's soccer team, the No. 24-ranked Loggers fell 2-1 to Cal Lutheran at Baker Stadium on Monday afternoon.

The first half was scoreless although the Regals took 12 shots in the half but Logger goalkeeper Casey Thayer made five saves. Thayer would make four more saves in the second half.

Cal Lutheran struck first as Taylor Will scored on a free ball in the 64th minute. The Loggers would respond just 30 seconds later as Robin Vieira scored in her Logger debut. However, Cal Lutheran struck again in the 69th minute as Krista Cameron snuck a free kick from 30 yards out just past the outstretched Thayer.

The Regals were able to hold the Loggers off the board the rest of the way for the early season win.

The Loggers travel to Santa Cruz, Calif. next week where they will face UC Santa Cruz and Chapman.
