Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – A strong second half effort boosted the Puget Sound women's basketball team to a 74-68 win over Whitworth on Saturday. Jocelyn Riordan scored all 10 of her points in the second half and moved into seventh on the Loggers all-time scoring list.
The Loggers (7-6, 3-1 NWC) trailed 30-28 at the half but scored 46 points in the second half behind 48 percent shooting. On the game, the Loggers shot 42.6 percent and 41.2 percent in three-point attempts.
The game was close throughout with neither team holding more than a nine-point lead. The lead changed hands 10 times in the game while the score was tied at eight different points.
Amanda Forshay again led the Loggers with 15 points. Lexi Belcher had a game-high 21 points for the Pirates (5-8, 1-3 NWC).
The Pirates looked to put the game away early in the second half as they built their largest lead with 13:57 left in the second half and up by seven. The Loggers came roaring back and eventually built a nine-point lead by the 4:55 mark.
Four Loggers reached double digits in the game with Kelsey McKinnis adding 12 points and Lindsay Layland scoring 10.
Lauren Picha added 15 points for the Pirates, who made a late surge but were unable to erase the deficit.
The Loggers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel across town to Pacific Lutheran. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
