Rosenberg Nets Two Goals In Win Over Whitman

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – Haley Rosenberg scored the first two goals of her Logger career to lead the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Whitman on Sunday. All three Logger goals came in the second half with Kylie Beeson scoring the game-winner.

After a scoreless first half, the Loggers (8-3-1, 7-1-1 NWC) came out hungry in the second half. Beeson broke the scoring silence in the 48th minute. After settling a ball near the top of the 18-yard box, Beeson juggled around a defender turned and found the net in the lower right corner for a 1-0 Logger lead.

Just five minutes later, Rosenberg struck for the first time in her Logger career. Theresa Henle's through ball was crossed by Beeson and found the feet of Rosenberg, who tapped it in for the insurance goal.

In the 81st minute, Rosenberg struck again. After dribbling around multiple defenders from the far side, she fired a shot from about 10 yards out past the diving keeper for her second goal of the game and a 3-0 Logger lead.

The Logger defense limited Whitman (3-9-2, 2-6-2 NWC) to just seven shots in the match with Kara Merfeld making a pair of saves for the shutout.

The Loggers are back on Peyton Field next week for a noon match with Willamette.
