Loggers Win, Remain In Front OF NWC Title Race

Box Score

PORTLAND, Ore. – An exciting second half fell in favor of the Puget Sound women's soccer team who stayed in front of the race for an NWC title with a 3-1 win over Lewis & Clark. Four goals were scored in the second half with three different Loggers scoring.

Less than three minutes into the second half, Lauren Swanson headed in Kylie Beeson's corner kick for a 1-0 Logger lead. In the 63rd minute, Theresa Henle padded the lead as she converted a corner kick for her seventh goal of the season.

That goal proved to be crucial as Lewis & Clark (7-9-3, 7-6-3 NWC) headed in a corner to slice the lead in half. Anna Thorndike scored the goal from Emilia Emmetti's corner in the 68th minute.

At the 79:19 mark, Haley Rosenberg brought the Loggers lead back to two goals as she scored unassisted from the left side of the goal.

With the win, the Loggers remained in the driver's seat toward an NWC title. Linfield concluded its regular season with a win over Whitworth today and is in first by one point. A Logger win tomorrow will claim an 11th straight outright NWC championship for the Loggers. A tie against Pacific at noon tomorrow would mean the Loggers share the title with Linfield but Linfield holds the tiebreaker for the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament.

The Loggers host Pacific at noon on East Field tomorrow.
