Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Puget Sound women's basketball team suffered a 79-62 loss at No. 9 Lewis & Clark on Friday. Sarah Stewart led the Loggers (12-12, 8-7 NWC) with 10 points off the bench.
Lindsay Layland made a lay-up on the Loggers first trip down the floor for a quick 2-0 lead, but that turned out to be the Loggers only lead of the evening. Neva Hauser's layup gave the Pioneers (22-2, 13-2 NWC) their first lead at 6-4 and they never looked back as they lead the rest of the way.
After Stewart cut the lead to two points with her first jumper, the Pios went on a 16-4 run over the next six minutes to build a comfortable lead 24-10 lead. That's as close as the Loggers would get the rest of the way as the Pios maintained a double digit lead and led by as much 23 in the first half.
Layland and Kelsey McKinnis added eight points a piece for the Loggers, leaving McKinnis two points shy of her 1,000th career point.
Kristina Williams led four Pios in double digits with 18 points. Hauser finished with 16 points to aid in the Pio effort.
The Pios took a 47-27 lead into the locker room at halftime and led comfortably throughout the second half to walk away with the win in their final regular season game.
