Box Score

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's basketball team suffered a 78-59 loss to No. 10 Whitworth on Friday. The Loggers (15-5, 7-4 NWC) ran into a hot-shooting Pirates (17-3, 10-1 NWC) team as they saw their four-game winning streak snapped.

Dustin McConnell scored the first five points of the game for the Pirates and they never looked back as they led the rest of the way. McConnell finished with 13 points and was one of five Pirates in double digits.

Kaleb Shelton-Johnson led the way for the Loggers with 14 points and six rebounds while Anthony Gittens contributed 10 points and seven boards.

Late in the first half, the Loggers looked to stay in the game Shelton-Johnson's layup cut the lead to nine. However, Whitworth scored the last five points of the half to take a 44-30 lead into the break.

The Pirates held their double digit lead throughout the second half, led by 16 points from Felix Freidt. As a team, the Pirates shot 55.4 percent from the floor.
