Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Puget Sound men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting Pacific team on Saturday and dropped its fourth straight, 89-74. The Boxers (9-6, 3-3 NWC) shot 57.4 percent from the field and were 10-of-19 beyond the three-point arc to fuel the victory.
The Boxers led for the final 34 minutes of the game behind a solid shooting effort. Danny Brakebush led the effort with 23 points as one of five Boxers in double digits.
A fast-paced Loggers team was slowed by a game that featured 73 free throws. The Loggers were 26-of-35 from the line while the Boxers were 25-of-38. Ryan Rogers led the Loggers effort at the charity stripe on 10-of-11 shooting. He finished with 16 points.
Rex Holmes was the Loggers leading scorer with 17 points. Derek Jobe pitched in 12 points.
The Loggers (6-11, 1-7 NWC) took an early lead that reached its greatest point when Gabe Borboa's jumper at the 16:11 mark put the Loggers up 11-5. However, the Boxers answered with a 12-2 run over the next two minutes to gain a lead that they would not surrender.
Brakebush was supported in the high-scoring Boxer effort by 15 points from Daniel Zitani and 16 from Colin Wester.
The Loggers will look to end their four-game losing streak next Friday when they host nationally-ranked Whitworth at 8 p.m.
