TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's basketball team scored the first four points of the game and never looked back in a 75-45 win over Willamette on Friday. Emily Sheldon's 13 points led a balanced scoring effort for the Loggers (9-4, 2-2 NWC).

Katy Ainslie established the early Logger lead as she knocked down a turnaround jumper in the paint just 13 seconds into the game. From there, the Logger defense fueled the decisive victory, holding the Bearcats (0-11, 0-2 NWC) to just 32.1 percent shooting.

After jumping out to a 12-4 lead on a jumper from Olivia Roberts, the Bearcats never came closer than five points as the Loggers led comfortably for most the night. The scoring load was spread out among the Loggers as six players scored at least seven points.

The Loggers also dished out 18 assists on the night, led by four assists each from Olivia Roberts and Ashley Agcaoili.

While the Loggers kept the Bearcats on lockdown, the offense found its rhythm. The Loggers shot 46.2 percent on the night and drained seven three-pointers on just 13 attempts.

The lead continued to grow quickly in the second half as the Bearcats were held to just 26.9 percent shooting in the period. Sophie Wilson scored 15 points on five three-pointers to lead the Bearcats while Julia Brand added in 10 points.

The Loggers shot 50 percent over the final 20 minutes as the lead ballooned to 33 points when Taylor Jones drained a three-pointer with 7:05 remaining. The Loggers then cruised the rest of the way for the big win.

With the win, the Loggers climbed up to .500 in NWC play. They look to go above .500 next Friday when they travel to Linfield.
