Dominant Effort, Puzzling Result: Loggers Draw At George Fox

Box Score

NEWBERG, Ore. – It was the most dominant effort of the season for the Puget Sound women's soccer team, but the Loggers did not get the result they may have deserved. Despite peppering the Bruins with 51 shots, not one found the back of the net in 0-0 draw.

The Loggers (2-2-2, 0-1-2 NWC) fired off 51 shots in the 110 minutes of play. They took 14 in the first half, and astonishing 28 in the second half, four in the first overtime and five in the second overtime. The Bruins (2-4-1, 0-2-1 NWC) managed just five shots and none were put on goal.

The Loggers put 21 shots on goal in the match, but Alyssa Montero was there to meet each one. In nothing short of a heroic effort for the Bruin goalie, she made 21 saves with 12 coming in the second half.

Amalia Acorda-Fey took eight shots with three on goal for the Loggers. She was one of six Loggers to put multiple shots on goal but not find the back of the net. Kylie Beeson put four of her seven shots on frame to lead the attack.

The Loggers remained winless in conference play despite owning the run of play for most of two matches. They will look to put it all behind them for another noon match tomorrow at Willamette.
