Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Four different players scored for the Puget Sound women's soccer team as it shutout Lewis & Clark on Saturday morning.
The Loggers took 23 shots in the game as they dominated the Pioneers by a score of 4-0. Annie Jonsson scored first for the Loggers as she finished on a pass from Jordyn McLuen in the six-yard box. In the 34th minute, Amalia Acorda-Fey chipped a shot over the keeper into the right corner of the net to give the Loggers the 2-0 lead. Minutes later, Danielle Silver finished on a cross from Acorda-Fey. In the final seconds of the second half, Annie Prickett extended the Logger lead to four as she volleyed the ball into the far side of the net. Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas recorded her fifth clean sheet of the year in the win.
Puget Sound (7-3, 5-2 NWC) took the 1-0 lead over Lewis & Clark (6-3-2, 4-2-1 NWC) 20 minutes into the game on Jonsson's fifth goal of the season. In the 34th minute, Acorda-Fey chipped in a shot passed the Pioneer goalkeeper. Silver gave the Loggers the 3-0 lead just before halftime. Silver's first of the year came in the 40th minute on a cross from Acorda-Fey.
Heading into the second half with the 3-0 lead, the Logger offense remained hot by firing 11 shots and forcing the Pioneer goalkeeper to make three saves. In the 90th minute, Prickett sweetened the match for the Loggers as she found the back of the net to give Puget Sound the 4-0 win.
The Loggers outshot the Pioneers (23-7). Lewis & Clark had more corner kicks (3-2). Logger goalkeeper, Thomas made two saves in the shutout win.
Puget Sound looks to carry this offensive momentum as it faces Pacific, on the road tomorrow, Sunday, Oct 12 at 12pm.
