Box Score TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team is back on the winning track after it picked up a 3-1 victory (14-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-17) over Lewis & Clark at Memorial Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
Puget Sound's lone senior, Nicolette Reynaud, led the team with 12 kills while Kristen Lane came away with a team-best 22 digs for the Loggers (9-12, 8-4 NWC).
The Pioneers (10-11, 4-8 NWC) opened the match with a commanding 25-14 win in the first set, but the two sides went tick for tack in the second set.
Neither side led by more than two points until the Pioneers claimed a 22-19 advantage. The Loggers remained poised, however, as Puget Sound went on a 5-2 run to even the score, 24-24. Lewis & Clark scored the next point, but that was the only time the Loggers trailed for the remainder of the set as they captured a 29-27 win.
Puget Sound was able to overcome any deficit the Pioneers offered, including a 13-10 Lewis & Clark lead in the third set. The Loggers used a 9-3 run to claim a 19-16 edge, and they scored the set's final four points in the 25-19 win.
The Loggers trailed only once in the fourth and final set, and that was when the Pioneers led 1-0.
Puget Sound returns to action when they host Pacific for a conference matchup on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.
