Box Score TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team opened its final weekend home stand of the season with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-19) win over Pacific on Friday night. The Northwest Conference victory was the first sweep for the Loggers this year.
The Loggers (10-12, 9-4 NWC) posted a .269 attack-percentage, marking their second-most efficient offensive output of the season. Kristen Lane and Shawna Smith led Puget Sound with 10 kills apiece, while Rachael Garrison came away with a game-high 20 digs.
The Puget Sound defense held the Boxers (6-15, 2-11) to a 0.98 attack-percentage.
The first set was the most closely contested during the match, as Pacific jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. The Loggers evened the score for the first time, 16-16, thanks to a kill by Emily Convery, and Smith followed with a kill of her own to give Puget Sound its first lead at 17-16.
An attack error by Pacific later in the set allowed the Loggers to claim a 25-24 lead, but a cutch kill by the Boxers evened the score. Puget Sound bounced back with consecutive points to win the first set.
The Loggers close out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they host George Fox at Memorial Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. Puget Sound will honor its lone senior, Nicolette Reynaud, before the start of the match.
