Acorda-Fey's goal not enough in 2-1 loss to Chapman

TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound women's soccer team opened its 2014 season with a 2-1 loss against Chapman at Lewis & Clark on Friday night.

Chapman jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of first-half goals, but Puget Sound (0-1) junior Amalia Acorda-Fey cut Chapman's lead in half when she found the back of the net in the 73rd minute. The Loggers put a couple of shots on net in the final five minutes of the game, but Chapman held on for the win.

Puget Sound topped Chapman in nearly every key statistic, including shots on goal (8-3) and corners (6-1), and it also played a cleaner game by committing half has many fouls (16-8). Acorda-Fey led the Loggers with five shots on goal while Grayson Williams-Krebs recorded two.

Puget Sound will look to bounce back when it opens its home schedule against Northwest on Sunday, August 31, at 12 p.m.
