TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team was able to hold off Linfield, 70-67, on Saturday evening in a game that included seven ties and seven lead changes. 

Kohl Meyer scored the winning basket for the Loggers with 13 seconds remaining while James Osorio came away with a last second rebound to secure the win.

Offensively, the Loggers went 25-for-51 (47.1 percent) from the floor. Four players scored in the double-digits with Nick Holden recording a double-double. This is Holden's fifth double-double of the season. He scored 11 points on the night with 10 rebounds, six of which were offensive rebounds. Erin Barber bucketed 17 points in the win while Keith Shattuck and Meyer both scored 12 points.

The Loggers (8-5, 3-2 NWC) opened the game on a 13-2 run that included three 3-pointers, two by Shattuck and one from Matt Bergland. 

In the fast paced first half, the Wildcats (2-13, 0-6 NWC) were able to make a comeback, tie the game, and take the lead at halftime, 34-29. 

The Loggers began the second half by going on another 13-2 run that resulted in them regaining a six point lead, 47-41, with 12:53 left in the game.

Again, the Wildcats made a comeback and took the lead, 59-57, following an 8-2 run with 6:09 remaining.

Down the stretch, the Loggers stayed with the Wildcats and tied the game at 59, 62, and 65 before taking a one point lead. Barber made a jump shot and a following free throw to put Puget Sound up, 66-65, with 2:14 to go. 

With 30 seconds remaining, Linfield's Austin Murray made a layup to give the Wildcats the lead, 67-66. The Loggers then stormed down the court and Meyer made a layup himself to give the Loggers the lead, 68-67, with 15 seconds left.

Linfield missed on its final possession of the game to give the Loggers the 70-67 win following two made free throws by Osorio.  

The Loggers bested the Wildcats in rebounds (32-28) and turnovers (10-11). 

Puget Sound now goes on the road to face Whitworth on Friday, Jan. 23 at 8pm.
