TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound women's soccer team defeated George Fox 3-0 in dominating fashion on Saturday afternoon.

The Loggers (7-0-4, 3-0-4 NWC) began the game on the offensive, spending the first half almost exclusively in the attacking third. A number of good saves and defensive plays by the Bruins (3-6-2, 1-5-1 NWC) kept the score locked at 0-0 until the 25th minute. Liz Blonden crossed in a ball from the right flank.  Grayson Williams-Krebs met the ball and scored her third goal of the year and gave Puget Sound a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later the Loggers struck again. Blonden crossed in another ball from the right side, this time finding an open Annie Prickett. Prickett, having just come on as a substitute, made a difference right away, guiding her header into the top left corner of the net.

The Loggers did not wait long in the second half to increase their cushion. Acorda-Fey received a cross from Emmy Owens, and volleyed a shot past a diving keeper to give the home team a 3-0 lead in the 47th minute. That score would prove to be enough, as the Loggers defense remained firm, earning their seventh shutout of the season.

Puget Sound outshot George Fox 20-4, including a dominating 13-0 edge in the first half.  The Loggers also took more corner kicks that the Bruins (13-0). Amalia Acorda-Fey led the team with three shots, while goalkeeper Lauren Thomas (7-0-4) made two saves.

Puget Sound is unbeaten in 14 consecutive regular-season games, dating back to last fall. The team will next play Willamette on Sunday, October 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
