TACOMA, Washington – Nick Holden scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Puget Sound men's basketball team to a 61-54 win at crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran on Tuesday night.

Erin Barber's 3-pointer with 1:51 left in regulation broke a 54-54 tie. Matt Reid and James Osorio combined to shoot 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to clinch the win.

"Our guys did a great job executing on the defensive side," said Puget Sound head coach Justin Lunt. "Offensively, we did a great job of getting the ball inside, and we were able to consistently get to the free-throw line. It was a great win for our team." 

Puget Sound (10-8, 5-5 NWC) shot 19-for-25 from the charity stripe, improving the team's mark to 70.1 percent on the season.

Holden's 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first half gave Puget Sound a 35-28 lead at the break. The Loggers' lead reach double digits for the first time after Kohl Meyers' three-point played gave Puget Sound a 45-33 advantage just 6:30 into the second half.

Although the Lutes (5-14, 3-7) were able to tie the game late, the Loggers never trailed in the second half. In all, both teams committed nine turnovers, and Puget Sound finished with a slight edge in field-goal percentage, 40.5-39.6.

The Loggers return to the court on Friday, Feb. 6, for an 8 p.m. tipoff at Pacific.
