Loggers and Boxers battle to scoreless draw

Box Score

FOREST GROVE, Oregon  The University of Puget Sound women's soccer team played Pacific to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Loggers (5-0-3, 1-0-3 NWC) dominated the game, outshooting the Boxers (1-6-1, 1-2-1 NWC) 17-4, including a 7-0 edge in shots on goal. Puget Sound also led Pacific in corner kicks (8-1). However, neither team was able to break in regulation or either overtime periods.

The Loggers defense, which gave up a goal for the first time in 457 minutes last week, remained stout, earning their sixth shutout of the year. Reigning Northwest Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, goalkeeper Lauren Thomas, was not challenged to make a save in the draw. Amalia Acorda-Fey and Cassie Winter led the team with four shots.

Dating back to last fall, the Loggers are unbeaten in 11 consecutive regular-season games. Puget Sound will next travel to Whitworth on Saturday, September 3.
