Box Score WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team snapped its eight game winning streak, falling to Whitman, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 15-25), on Saturday night.
The Loggers (10-4, 5-1 NWC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set, and rode that lead to a 16-14 lead. Whitman (7-7, 4-2 NWC) went on a run and took a 22-17 lead, but Puget Sound would not back down. The Loggers used an 8-0 run to take the initial set.
The second and third sets were even affairs, with the two teams trading points, but Whitman ultimately pulled out the victory in each set, gaining a 2-1 advantage. In the fourth set, Puget Sound jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Whitman fought back to tie the game 5-5. The home team continued to keep their foot on the gas, cruising to a 25-15 win in the deciding fourth set.
Hannah Stinson tallied 10 kills on a .429 attack percentage. The junior has posted double-digit kills in 10 games this year.
Rachael Garrison (18) and Kristen Lane (13) each recorded at least 10 digs. Kayla Thaller finished with 19 assists, while Renee Kenneally had 14 assists.
The Loggers will look to begin a new win streak next weekend, when they host George Fox. The game, on Friday, October 7, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
