Box Score WALLA WALLA, Washington – Annie Prickett scored in the first minute, and the University of Puget Sound women's soccer team defeated Whitman, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Loggers (10-1-2, 7-0-2 NWC) wasted no time jumping out to a 1-0 lead on the road. In essentially the first action of the game, Prickett was able to score, assisted by Grayson Williams-Krebs. Puget Sound kept the pressure on, taking two more shots in the next five minutes, including a header from Williams-Krebs which went off the crossbar.
The visitors were able to break through again in the 7th minute. Williams-Krebs created her own goal this time, scoring for the seventh time this season, to put the Loggers up 2-0.
Puget Sound and Whitman (1-11-1, 1-7-1 NWC) both played a fairly offensive game, each having seven shots on goal in the game. Neither defense allowed another goal after the 7th minute, however, and the Loggers took the game, 2-0.
Whitman outshot Puget Sound, 15-13, while the Loggers took more corner kicks (7-2). Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas (10-1-2) played all 90 minutes, making seven saves, while not allowing a goal. Jacquelyn Anderson led the Loggers with four shots.
Puget Sound's next match will be Sunday, October 16, when the team plays Whitworth in Spokane. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
