PORTLAND, OregonRita Dexter tallied a career-high 14 kills as the Puget Sound volleyball team rolled past Lewis & Clark, 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20), on the road Friday night.

Although the Loggers (12-5, 7-2 NWC) finished with a .092 hitting percentage, Dexter carried the attack with a .385 mark against the Pioneers (4-12, 3-6 NWC).

Five Loggers finished with at least 10 digs, led by Rachael Garrison's 17. Kristen Lane added 15 digs, and Shari-Lynn Hayashi finished with 14. Kayla Thaller and Moira McVicar totaled 10 digs apiece.

After dropping the second set, Puget Sound trailed late in the third set. Down 17-16, a kill by Dexter evened the score. Hannah Stinson followed with a kill of her own, and a Lewis & Clark error gave the Loggers a 19-17 edge. They held for a 25-23 win.

In the fourth and final set, the Loggers trailed, 16-15, before going on a 3-0 run that gave Puget Sound the lead for good. Consecutive errors by the Pioneers and a kill by Renee Kenneally gave the Loggers an 18-16 edge, and they never looked back.

The Loggers remain on the road to play Linfield on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 5 p.m.
