Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Kristen Lane finished with her second consecutive double-double, and her sixth of the season, but the Puget Sound volleyball team lost to Pacific Lutheran, 3-2 (18-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-13), on Wednesday night in Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Loggers (13-6, 8-3 NWC) won the first two sets, but the Lutes (10-9, 8-3 NWC) battled back to win its first game against Puget Sound in three tries this season.
Lane posted 15 kills and 15 digs, while Rachael Garrison led all players with 32 digs. Katie Rice's 10 kills marked her second straight game with double-digit kills. Kayla Thaller had a team-high 22 assists for Puget Sound, and Moira McVicar followed with 17.
The Lutes raced out to a 5-0 lead in the fifth set, but the Loggers refused to quit. Pacific Lutheran maintained a five-point lead, 10-5, but Puget Sound put together a 4-0 run. PLU committed two errors, and Hannah Stinson and Katie Rice put away kills to cut the deficit to 10-9.
A kill by Lane evened the score, 11-11, but Puget Sound was unable to claim a lead in the decisive set.
The Loggers look to bounce back during Homecoming + Family Weekend when they host Pacific on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
